Roma Welch Carney

Roma Welch Carney (formerly of Rehoboth Beach, DE) passed away of natural causes on September 9, 2020 (at the age of 88) while living with her daughter and son-in-law in Morrow, Ohio. She is survived by two children: Lynn C. Bird (Jim) and Scott A. Carney (Darlene) and one brother, Rexford L. Welch (Sally). Roma was preceded in death by her husband C. Lyle Carney, parents Edgar & Edna Welch, brothers Edgar M. Welch (Mary Jane) and John B. Welch (Regina). Nana/”GG” is also survived by 5 loving grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” (William Shakespeare) As a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend and employee (Bird Speakman Ltd., Peebles and a few small toy shops), petite Roma was fiercely loyal, loving, generous, witty, trustworthy, wise, strong, determined and resilient. She also had a tender heart for those who hurt or needed help & encouragement. She would be by your side if possible or at least send a thoughtful card. Roma loved spending time with family & friends, walking on the Rehoboth boardwalk along the ocean, watching sports, reading newspapers & mystery novels, always enjoyed a good cup of hot coffee and insisted on at least one cookie per day! Our precious Mother is now with her Savior in heaven...whole, healthy and after 39 years, finally reunited with Dad! A private burial will take place in Glen Mills, PA. Our family deeply loves and misses Mom every day, and we appreciate the love, prayers, sympathy and support sent our way.
