Ronald Kent Burch, age 86, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family, on March 17, 2023 at his home in West Chester, Ohio. He was born November 20, 1936 to Frederick and Katherine Burch. Ron, the most loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather is survived by his wife Janice and their four children: Greg (Jan) Burch, Lisa (Doug) Cope, Lori Burch, Chris (Tracy) Burch, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Lois Huff and Linda Loschiavo, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Frederick Franklin Burch (father), Katherine Wilson Barr (mother), Lawrence Barr (stepfather), and two brothers, Frederick and Joseph Burch.
Upon graduation from Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky, Ron joined the army to serve his country, which took him to Tokyo and Okinawa. He studied coding in the Armed Services and was one of the first computer programmers in the Cincinnati area. Upon leaving the military, he began working at US Shoe in Norwood as a computer programmer where he met the love of his life, Janice, the woman who would stand by his side for 63 years through thick and thin. After leaving US Shoe, he worked at Frank Foods and retired from University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he spent 20 years in the Information Systems Department.
As a man of integrity, Ron always put his family first. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family vacations to the beach, reading on his back porch, photography, fishing, and eating from his candy stash (referred to by his grandchildren as “Papa’s medicine”). In his later years, Ron enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with his loving wife, Janice.
Ron was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. He was a man of strong faith and his love will be forever ingrained in all he knew.
Visitation will take place on Thursday March 23, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon, at Lakota Hills Baptist Church, 6300 Tylersville Rd, West Chester, OH 45069. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
