Rosalie J. Gehring (nee Oltmann), a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on the 15th of September 2023. After several years of declining health, Rosalie died peacefully surrounded by family, at the Alois Alzheimer Center in Greenhills. Rosalie was born on March 24, 1938, to Eduard and Josephine Oltmann (nee Fuhr), and had one brother, Edward Oltmann Jr., who preceded her in death. Rosalie was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and in 1960 was one of three female graduates of the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. She worked as a retail and hospital pharmacist for over thirty-five years. During that time, she became a trustee of the Hamilton County Pharmaceutical Association. After raising two children, she pursued her passion for gardening, becoming a Master Gardener through the Ohio State University Extension Service. She created a beautiful garden at home and volunteered at the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. For sixty-two years, Rosalie was a devoted and loving wife to her surviving husband James K. Gehring. Together, they traveled across the US, Europe, and Africa. They were fans of the UC Bearcats, season ticket holders of the Bengals and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She was a giving mother to her son Paul J. Gehring, MD (Gena Gray, MD) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and her daughter Anne L. Gehring of Chicago, Illinois. She was a loving and proud grandmother to Ethan, Jill, Thane, and Xena Gehring. In her memory, donations can be made to the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati.
