October 14, 1925- January 29, 2019
Ciokajlo, Ruby Anne, 93 years old, passed away peacefully, effortlessly and beautifully in the early morning of 29th January, 2019 in North London, UK. Her daughter, Liz Ciokajlo Squire, was with her. In the days leading to her passing her daughter, son-in-law Paul Squire, granddaughter Madeline Squire and grandson Aldous Squire and London friends showered her with hugs, kisses, music and laughter, just as she would have wanted. Her passing is preceded by her late beloved son John A Ciokajlo, former husband John J Ciokajlo, father Jasper Smith, mother Mary Lou Smith, brother Harold Smith and close friend Doris Halcomb. Ruby is survived by her sister Shirley Evans and brother Ellis Smith and many nieces and nephews, the oldest being Sandy Harper and Tim Smith, all of whom she was very proud of the people they grew up to become and the achievements in their lives.
She worked for decades as a secretary, mainly at General Electric in Cincinnati and lived her life with love, warmth and humor even through adversity. After her retirement she moved back to her hometown in Lebanon, Ohio and looked after a new generation of young souls who held a special place in her heart, Fredrick, Bradley and Christian Frick, Katie and Angie, and lastly Mia before her health determined it was best she join her daughter and family in North London, UK. In her ‘mothering roles’ she was encouraging, loving and open. She held herself with dignity and elegance and even though she lived a full, long life, her presence will be missed by those she touched.
She returns to her American home to be laid to rest next to her son John A. Ciokajlo Friday, February 15th, 2019 for an 11:00 am service at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Kemper Road. Hodapp Funeral Home College Hill and her daughter are organizing the service. Flowers can be sent, using local florist, by Thursday 14th February to Hodapp College Hill to accompany Ruby to Gate of Heaven Cemetery for the service.
