Rusel "Rusty" Betterton

April 5, 1929 — October 18, 2016

BETTERTON, Rusel "Rusty" (nee Gray), born April 5, 1929, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016.  Rusty grew up in Barbourville, KY, and moved to St. Bernard, OH, in 1949 where she resided for the rest of her life.  She and her first husband John "Jack" Hodges owned and operated the LinDelta Pony Keg on Mt. Lookout Square in the 1950's-60's.  Jack preceded her in death in 1963.  She married her second husband Walter J. Betterton, a career military officer, in 1968.  Walter preceded her in death in 1984.  She is survived by her daughter Sandra K. Hodges of North Avondale.  Rusty loved people and loved serving them.  She had many jobs over the course of her life most of which were in her beloved St. Bernard.  She managed a United Dairy Farmers, ran the deli at IGA, worked at Priscilla Bakery and owned and operated Greetings and Gifts.  She had a very long struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and passed due to complications of the disease.  She loved working with her hands doing gardening, crocheting, fine needle work, cooking and baking.  In later years, the cruelty of RA limited her ability to do the things she loved.  May she rest in peace.  Visitation at Vine St. Hill Cemetery Chapel, 3701 Vine St., 45220, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. (please use Mitchell Ave. gate).  Memorials may be made to Wilson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4805 Sullivan Ave., St. Bernard, OH 45217.
