Russell James Whiles, 75, of West Chester, died August 6, 2018 at Spring Hills Assisted Living Facility following a brave battle with cancer.
Mr. Whiles was born October 12, 1942, the son of Ulysses Whiles and Irene (Vaught) Whiles in Somerset, KY. In 1963, he married Connie Lawrence of Lockland. The couple moved to West Chester, Ohio in 1967, where Mr. Whiles resided until his death. The way in which Mr. Whiles lived his life with his humor, wit and generosity is an inspiration to all who loved him. Survivors include his companion, Mary McCarthy, one daughter, Robin Whiles of Bluff City, Tennessee, two sons, Joe (Lisa) Whiles of Trenton and Rick (Carla) Whiles of Blountville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Connor, Cammie, Dylan, Logan, Ben and Jenna; one sister, Janet (Shelby) Kelly of Hamilton; and several dear nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whiles touched the lives of many with his love and strength, and also leaves behind the many special people who grew to love him as a father, brother or dear friend. Visitation will take place at Hodapp Funeral Home,

Saturday August 11, 2018 from 10 am-11:30 am. Funeral Service from
11:30-12:00 with brief graveside service thereafter.
Special appreciation is given to the caring staff of Spring Hills Assisted Living Facility and Hospice of Dayton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Dayton.
