Sarah (Sally) Gaede passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on November 11th with her family by her side.
Sally was born on August 2, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a 1958 graduate of The Summit Country Day School, where she had been a student since kindergarten. And, in 1993 she graduated from Xavier University’s Nursing Program and went on to practice nursing for nearly 20 years.
She was an avid reader and golfer, as well as an accomplished piano player. But Sally’s true passion was as an artist. She worked in multiple mediums but enjoyed painting with acrylics the most and abstract art was her favorite style. Her children all proudly display pieces of her artwork in their homes.
Sally’s spirit is carried on by her children, Tracy Niehaus, Todd (Annie) Gaede, Scott Gaede and Chris Gaede, and 5 grandchildren, Cameron, Brennan, Charlie, Rachel and Caroline. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Loretta Ryan, and sisters Patricia Gerbus and Nancy Baehner.
A memorial in her honor will be held on Monday, November 23rd from 3-5pm at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Township, Ohio 45044 with a short service from 5-5:30pm. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Lin St. #1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
