Shirley Mae Jackson was born December 2, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John Joseph Jackson and the late Anna L. Jackson (Thompson). Shirley united in holy matrimony to the late James Woodrow Davis, Jr. Out of that union were 4 children. Shirley attended Woodward High School. After graduation, she decided she loved working with people. She worked with the young and old. Her spirit of love for other people lead her to a life of helping others. She chose a career of working with Geriatrics. This led to a career at the University Hospital, where she served faithfully for over 13 years. One of Shirley’s favorite pasttimes was collecting Angels. She felt they brought peace, safety, and a closer bond with Christ. Shirley once said each angel she had served a purpose in her life. She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Colette Ann Davis, Douglas Allen Davis (Tracie), Kenneth Joseph Davis. One son, Jeffrey J. Davis preceded her in death. Three grandchildren, Michael Lamont, Zinima Lee, and Lamashia Allena Davis. Two Great grandchildren, Mikala and Michael, III. Five sisters, Barbara Owens, Sharon Dock, Ruth Lewis, Kristine Jackson, and Janet Jackson-DuBois (William). Two brothers, Barry Eugene Thompson and Stanley Jackson. One brother preceded her in death, John Michael Jackson. She leaves one Uncle, Fred Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Shirley also leaves one loving & devoted friend, Martha Hodapp Korte. Visitation will be held at the Church of the Resurrection, 1619 California Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45237 Thursday, October 4 from 6 until 7 pm, with her funeral service beginning at 7 pm.
