Sister Jean Vogelsang, RSM

Sister Jean Vogelsang (the former Sister Mary Francine) sister of the Sisters of Mercy for 69 years. Passed away on July 9, 2024 at age 89. Daughter of the late Edmund Vogelsang and Pauline Geiser, sister of the late Richard Vogelsang. 

Sister Jean was born in Cincinnati and attended Mother of Mercy High School. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1952, earned her BA at Our Lady of Cincinnati College and her MA in counseling at Xavier University. She served as principal of St. Teresa School for three years, but except for those three years, from 1957 to 1993, Jean was at Mother of Mercy High School, first as a math teacher, then as guidance counselor. Upon leaving Mother of Mercy, she worked for the Sisters of St. Joseph in their Development Office, retired from there, then spent another seven years as a volunteer at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries. She retired to McAuley Convent in 2017.

Visitation will be at McAuley Convent, 1768 Cedar Avenue, 45224, from 4:00-6:00 on Thursday, July 18. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6:15. Burial: Friday, July 19, at S. Joseph (new) Cemetery. Meet at the cemetery at 10:00. Condolences at hodappfuneralhome.com
