Sister Joan Nemann, RSM

Sister Joan Nemann, (the former Sister Mary Edwina) sister of the Sisters of Mercy for 72 years.  Daughter of the late Edward Nemann and Evelyn Gehred.  Passed away on July 25, 2022 at the age of 91.  Survived by sister, Betty Strak, and brother, Bill Nemann.  Sister Joan was born in Cincinnati and attended Mother of Mercy High School.  She earned a BA from Edgecliff College, an MS from Xavier University and an MA from Fordham University.  She taught high school and was principal at Mother of Mercy.  Over the years she was Director of Formation, Leadership Team Vice-president, Director of the Archdiocesan Office of Religious.  She served as Director of Mission Services at Mercy Clermont and Mercy Anderson hospitals.  Visitation will be at McAuley Convent on Monday, August 1, from 4:00-6:00.  Mass of the Resurrection:  6:15.  Burial:  Tuesday, August 2 at St. Joseph (new) Cemetery, leaving McAuley Convent at 9:30.  Memorials may be directed to Sisters of Mercy, McAuley Convent, 1768 Cedar Ave., Cincinnati, OH  45224.
