Sister Mary Donata Ovelgonne, RSM

Sister Mary Donata Ovelgonne, sister of the Sisters of Mercy for 77 years.  Daughter of the late Edward Ovelgonne and Etta Browkamp.  Passed away on February 1, 2023, at the age of 94.  Preceded in death by James Ovelgonne.  Survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

Sister Mary Donata was born Jane Ovelgonne, in Latonia, KY.  She attended Mother of Mercy High School and earned her BEd from the Atheneum of Ohio.  Most of her career was as an elementary school teacher, She was the gardener on several Mercy properties, then served as a librarian and secretary.

Visitation will be held at McAuley Convent, 1768 Cedar Ave., Cincinnati, 45224 from 4:00-6:00 on Thursday, February 9.  Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 6:15.  Burial will be Friday, February 10, at St. Joseph (new) Cemetery, at 10:00, leaving the convent at 9:30.  Memorials may be directed to the Sisters of Mercy, McAuley Convent; 1768 Cedar Ave., Cincinnati, 45224
