Stephen Chapman

Stephen (Steve) Richard Chapman, beloved husband of Barbara (nee Hambly) Chapman for 63 years, loving father of Cynthia Chapman and Cheryl (Charles) Pettigrew, grandfather of Tyler (Jenny) Pettigrew, Malcolm (Kelly) Pettigrew, Barbara (Dan) Gary, Christoffer (Niki) Lehnherr, Abby (MacKenzie) Hardt, and great-grandfather of eight. Steve is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Steve was preceded in death by parents Tom and Elise Chapman, and brother Robert Chapman.

Steve had a life-long love for education. He was a full professor at Montana State University and Clemson University. He went on to become Dean of the College of Agriculture at Clemson University. Steve was also the author of several textbooks. He went back to school in his fifties to become an attorney. He returned to Clemson University where he was a senior contract advisor and practiced patent law. In addition, he had a private law practice.

Steve was also a very active man who pursued many passions including fishing, hunting, and giving of his time to non-profit work such as Habitat for Humanity. Steve never met a stranger. He had many beloved friends, and some of his favorites were of the canine variety.

Steve passed away on July 16, 2021 at the age of 84. A celebration of life service will be held at West Chester Presbyterian Church (8930 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester, OH 45069) on Saturday, July 31st starting at 11:00am; visitation will begin at 10:30am.
