Susan Dario, we honor you this day and give you a Nightingale Lamp pin to symbolize our appreciation for being our nursing colleague.
Nursing is a calling, a lifestyle, a way of living. Nurses here today honor Susan and her life as a nurse. Susan is not remembered by her many years as a nurse, but by the difference she made during those years...by stepping into people's lives... by special moments.
While in the Philippines, Susan completed nursing school at the Southern Island Nursing School in Cebu city. She then continued her nursing career in Chicago, Illinois and eventually in Ohio at the University of Cincinnati. Susan's 40 year career in nursing was mostly at the VA where she made a home on the 5N/Urology floor. Raised with a strong work ethic, and and amazing immune system, Susan only called off sick twice during her forty-year nursing career.
When not bedside, Susan was a loving wife and dedicated mother of three. Upon retirement from the VA at the age of 65, Susanf continued to stay active and enjoyed traveling to Europe, with her husband and friends; talking over cups of coffee at McDonalds and most importantly spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
Thank you Susan, for your nursing services and for allowing us all to be a part of your life. Your shift on this Earth has finally ended. You will now truly be able to rest. In peace.
