Sylvia M. Betz

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Sylvia Betz, a cherished member of the St. Xavier High School community. From 1969 to 2020, Sylvia dedicated her life to the mission and values of St. X, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students, faculty, and staff.

Throughout her tenure, she served as assistant to six St. X presidents, played a pivotal role in the development of the Advancement Office, as well as the St. X magazine, assisted with the Fr. Wieber Society and the annual Honor Roll of Donors and supported the Financial Aid Office for 15 years. Her contributions extended to two major campaigns—Legacy for Leaders and Legacy of Excellence—and in 2009, she was honored with the Magis Award for her unwavering commitment to the school’s mission.

Sylvia’s legacy is one of dedication, service, and excellence. We honor her profound impact and celebrate the many ways she helped shape our community. May she find eternal rest, and may the love of Christ bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

Sylvia passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at age 78. Visitation will be held at St. Clare Church, 1443 Cedar Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224 on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
