ELAM, Thelma Francis (Johnson), 98, was born on June 15, 1920, the third of seven children (six girls and one boy) to William Nesbit and Kathryn McCarty of Menifee County, KY. She went to be with Jesus on October 31, 2018 from her home of 60+ years in Liberty Township, OH. Thelma was the proud wife of O.K. Elam for 77 years, a mother of three: Brentin Curry (Sandra), Daughter-in-law,
Violet (Elam) Caskey, Terence Wayne (Cheryl) and Sharon Janet Uttinger (Victor), grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 14, great-great-grandmother of three and beloved friend of countless others. Thelma’s heart was especially soft toward children and the elderly where she focused her many volunteer efforts. Thelma adored, loved and cared for her family with selfless devotion
every day of her life. She loved the Lord with all her heart – she lived her life and raised her family with absolute confidence that every Word of the Lord is truth. She was a proud member of Bethany UMC for 50+ years where she attended faithfully and was well known for her radiant smile and warm hugs. She leaves her family with joy in her heart and eternity in Heaven as her reward. Thelma
was a lover of everything beautiful - she loved gardening and seeing the fruits of her labor, she loved being outside, she loved art and music and reading and even wrote her own poetry, she loved to dress beautifully and she loved to travel; though, she truly believed that of all the places in the world, there was none more beautiful than her own back yard especially when filled with family and friends. Thelma was steadfast and devout, caring and gentle. There is profound sadness in her passing from this life, but we rejoice in the fact that she rests with our Savior, Jesus Christ, and we will be with her again in Heaven.
