HARRIS, Thomas Andrew died on January 20th after a lengthy battle with alcoholism. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 16, 1956. Tom was the son of James and Hilda Harris. He attended Colerain High School. Following graduation, he began a 28-year career in healthcare. While working as a surgical technician at Good Samaritan Hospital, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After several years as a staff nurse working with vascular, orthopedic and trauma patients, he was recruited by West Chester Hospital as the Director of Surgical Services. Tom left this position after several years to join Blue Chip Surgical Inc. where he served as Vice President of Operations. In this role he was responsible for financial development and clinical oversight. Tom was particularly proud of the role he played in the construction of a major ambulatory surgical center in London, England.
Tom is preceded in death by his dear mother Hilda and father James. He is survived by his sister Patricia Harris, his brother Douglas Harris (Debby), nieces Heather O’Brien (Sean), Elizabeth Coffey (Timothy), Samantha Harris, nephew Bryon Harris (Amberley), cousins Cheryl Davis and Carol Jensen.
Tom, or “UT” as his nieces and nephews knew him, was called the “cool uncle”. He is remembered as a gentle, sensitive, thoughtful man who was absolutely devoted to his immediate family, extended family and friends.
While he will no longer have a place at the table, he will always have a place in our hearts.
