Thomas Edward Carroll, at the age of 85, passed away on Christmas day December 25, 2016 at his home in Sharonville, Ohio. In 1949, Tom enlisted in the US Navy with his late brother Bill Carroll and they served active sea duty on board the USS Toledo in the Pacific. Tom worked at General Motors Norwood assembly plant and retired after 32 years of service in both hourly and management positions. During his 57 years in Sharonville, he was active in youth sports and coached baseball and football. He was also one of the founding members of the Sharonville Youth Organization (SYO) and helped start the Sharonville Recreation Commission who built the Sharonville pool, parks and sports fields. Carroll field on Kemper road near Sharon Woods is dedicated in his name. He played semi-pro football and had a real passion for UK Basketball, golf and most of all, his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Stella (Newkirk) Carroll, his daughter Pamela (Carroll) Akers of Liberty Township, OH, his son Thomas E. Carroll II of Independence, KY, his daughter Barbara (Carroll) Lattin of Morrow, OH and his son Jeffrey A Carroll of Covington, KY. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Carroll of Florence, KY and his sister Thelma (Carroll) Hamlin of Latonia, KY. He is grandfather to Cindi Musick, Alex Lattin, David (Scott) Akers, Carlee Reimer, Katie Gruter, Mandy Raschulte, Brian Lattin, Michael (Craig) Akers, Sara Perry, Keith Carroll, Cassie Bilz and Jessie Roland. He also leaves behind 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation is Friday December 30 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd. (Route 42) West Chester, Ohio. Funeral Service will start at 11:30 AM at Hodapp Funeral Home. Private family Interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens, 5989 Deerfield Road, Milford Ohio. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Cincinnati.
