LINNEMAN, Thomas beloved husband of 60 years of the late Marian Linneman (nee Fanger), loving father of Mary Ann (Ken) Blum, Barbara (Steve) Jackson, Jack and David Linneman, cherished grandfather of Marie, John, Mike, Julie, Emily and Jordan, great grandfather of Haley, brother of the late Jack and Bob Linneman and Jayne Harig. Tom grew up in Hyde Park, graduated from St. Marys Grade School, Purcell High School and Xavier University. He believed in giving back to the educational institutions where he matriculated. Active in alumni boards and fund raising, he enjoyed keeping in touch with classmates, organizing class reunions, golf outings, tennis tournaments and class newsletters. Thomas was a long time member of St. Vivian’s. His faith and involvement in church activities enriched his life. He made 58 retreats at the Milford Retreat Center and was the Captain of the Infant of Prague Group. Duty, Honor and Country were the cornerstone in his life. He was a veteran of World War II and fought with the 29th Division. His unit replaced the fallen soldiers of the Normandy Invasion. He was wounded in action, received the Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war for 207 days. Sharing his experiences and perspectives, he offered living history presentations to students interested in learning more about D Day, World War II and the terrors of war. He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, 29th Division Veterans Association and OKI Ex Prisoner of War Association. He retired in 1994, where he was president of the Netherland Rubber Company. Faith, family and friends filled Thomas’ life. He shared his time and talent with the many organizations in which he was involved. He said he always received much more than he gave. Tuesday May 11, 2010 age 87. Visitation at St. Vivian Church, 7600 Winton Rd., Finneytown, Saturday from 9:30-10:45 AM. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Memorials may be made to Milford Retreat Center, 5361 S.
