Thomas R. Para

Thomas R Para, age 70, of West Chester, passed away suddenly on October 2, 2023. After graduating from Greenhills High School, Tom attended The Ohio State University where he studied business and participated in the Navy ROTC. After college, he settled into a position with Hobart Corporation where he worked for many years as a computer technician.  Tom first became interested in all things electronic at a young age, earning his HAM radio license as a teenager.  It was fascinating to watch him communicate with people all over the world by Morse code, transmitting his signal with the second hand antenna tower he erected in the backyard. Not satisfied with sending only radio signals, he later set up his own amateur TV station, transmitting broadcasts throughout the neighborhood.  When he wasn't at his radio, you would likely find him building and flying radio controlled model airplanes of all sizes and shapes. Once retired from Hobart, he was able to spend even more time pursuing his hobbies, continuing to fly his planes and tinker with electronics.  His love of flying led him to build his own flight simulator and then a monitoring system that electronically watched the night skies, tracking anything that seemed to evade explanation.  He was also very proud of his Koi pond and enjoyed taking care of his pet fish. His Christmas gifts to nieces and nephews were the stuff of legend. 
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Raymond L. and Harriet Para. He is survived by his siblings Kathleen Conley (Jack), Diane Para, and Raymond L. Para (Barb Kanter), nephews and nieces Jennifer Conley, Chris Conley (Katie), Benjamin Para, and Grace Para, and great niece and nephew Chloe Conley and Johnny Conley. Services will be private.
