Virginia M. Schlei (nee Critzer)

April 23, 1928 — July 25, 2017

Schlei, Virginia Mae (nee Critzer), “Jenny Mae”, born on April 23, 1928 in West Carrollton, Ohio. Surrounded by her family, she died peacefully in her Mason, Ohio home on July 25, 2017, following a short battle with lung and liver cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, as well as her brother and parents.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Martin, Randy (Kris) Martin, and Rita Schlei (Jeff Mackzum); her grandchildren Kristi (Marty) Lobaugh, Robbie (Theresa) Thomas, Tim (Alicia) Boeddeker, Nathan Martin, Amanda (Eli) Allen, Kerri Caruso, Jason (Beth) Martin, Jennifer (Ken) Mollman, Tony Quick (Melissa Musick), Alex Quick, and Adam Quick. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson, and many other family members and friends.

She spent most of her career as co-founder of Abco Bar & Tuber Cutting Service, originating in Blue Ash, Ohio, spending weekends on the river with friends and family. Later, retiring to Port Charlotte, FL, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and visits from family. She returned home to Ohio following David’s death.

A generous soul with a sarcastic sense of humor, and an avid fan of George Jones, NASCAR, and sports, she will be deeply missed by us all. She was the center of our family. God love her.

We would like to thank the Hospice staff at Brookdale for all of their support and care.

A small family celebration will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ASPCA, her favorite charity, or the American Cancer Society.
