Walter L. Burnham, 79, of Indian River, MI and formerly of Lambertville, MI, passed away at Heritage Spring Nursing Center, West Chester, OH on March 6, 2018. He was born on April 26, 1938. Walt spent his entire working career in the banking industry at Toledo Trust. While still in high school, he started as a messenger at the bank and over the years, he worked his way up to teller, assistant manager, group branch manager and Assistant Vice President. During his 35 year career, he worked at several locations including downtown Toledo, Westgate, and Oak Harbor. After retirement, he and his wife, Ruth, moved to Indian River, MI in 2004. He loved Northern Michigan and spent many days on Burt Lake fishing and boating. He was especially fortunate to spend winters in Maui, Hawaii for several years. He was a former member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Temperance, MI and St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Cheboygan, MI. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruth; daughter Robin (Craig) Spletzer, Liberty Twp., OH; son, Steven Burnham, Wilmington, OH; grandsons, Jake Burnham, Sam Burnham and Alex Burnham; granddaughter, Carly Spletzer; sister, Sheila (Jim) Warejko, Indio, CA; and lifelong special friends, Nancy and Paul Carr, and Joe (Jane, deceased 10/17) Kuehnl.
