Family and friends are grieving the loss of Wentzel “D” Ervin, who passed away early in the morning on Friday, February 1, 2013, at peace and at home, in the care of his wife Judi. D was born on April 16, 1933 and grew up in the hill country of South-Central Kentucky. He lost his mother the day before his 13th birthday, but he spoke of her often. D came to Cincinnati when he was 18. He and Rhoda Hedge were married when he was 19. He found work at the Sharonville Ford plant, where he worked until he retired in 1988. Rhoda passed away in 1992. Their children Rick and Brenda live in Ohio and Indiana with their families. D married Judi Bullock in 1993, and he became a Dad and Grandpa again, to Judi’s two children, Marsha and Brian, and their families. D’s sisters Barbara and Linda live in Indiana and Nebraska. His 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren live all around the country. D loved his many cross-country travels, on motorcycle as a young man and in a motor home as a retiree. He loved old-fashioned bluegrass music as he loved his cat Rebel. He loved his Kentucky Wildcats, gardening, hiking and biking, camping, and just being outdoors. He was a country boy, but he loved the desert and the beach. He loved his church and his many friends there, and he always had a story to tell. When he became too ill to go outside, he loved to watch the birds and the wind in the trees, the rain and the snow. We miss D for all these things, and we miss his spirit, the kindest heart you could ever hope to know. Please join us at Tri-County Baptist Church 8195 Beckett Rd, West Chester, OH 45069, Wednesday, February 6th at 10 am for the visitation followed by the funeral at noon.
