William Francis "Bill" Huwel

William Francis “Bill” Huwel passed away on February 15, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Cincinnati on February 24, 1938, Bill was the only child of John and Martha Huwel. He attended Covington Latin High School, graduating at age 15. He attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Finance. He later received his MBA from Xavier University. Bill was a meteorologist for the US Army, serving in Yuma, AZ and Greenland. While at the Army base in Houghton, MI, he met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Shirley Bohjanen.

Bill was the owner and founder of Management Plus Realty Services, which he later sold to his employees who he had taught at Cincinnati State University. He also taught at Hondros and at General Electric. Bill served as president of Cincinnati Jaycees, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management), and was involved in CHCURC, (College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation), Franciscan Haircuts from the Heart, Bethany House, and St. Clare Church. For his work in Big Brothers and Big Sisters, received a Lifetime Achievement award, for which he was nominated by his first “little brother.”

Bill was known for his sense of humor, kindness, work ethic, open-door policy, and affability. New acquaintances weren’t strangers for long. Bill loved his family, friends, the arts, music, fishing, golfing, and his terrible magic tricks.

Bill is survived and missed by his wife of 59 years, Shirley D. Huwel; daughters Jacqueline Duccilli (Steve) and Amy Huwel; grandchildren Elizabeth and Sam Duccilli; and numerous cousins and friends who will miss him greatly.

Visitation at St. Clare Church, 1443 Ceder Ave., 45224 on Thursday, February 21 from 10 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11.
