“Nascar Bill”, known by some, “Cigar Bill”, known by others has received his checkered flag in heaven on October 18, 2024. Bill will also be missed daily at the Waffle House in West Chester, Ohio. Willam Edward Stavermann, 88, of West Chester, Ohio died in Hospice care on October 18, 2024.
He was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1936 to William A. Stavermann and Florence K. Anschuetz. Bill attended Green Hills high school before joining the U.S. Army and going to work at Proctor & Gamble. Bill had a successful career and took an early retirement where he enjoyed his time with family and cars.
Bill and Carolyn Stavermann expanded their family with their two children Brian E. Stavermann and William S. Stavermann. Bill was preceded in death by his son Brian who unfortunately lost a brave battle to pancreatic cancer in April 2023. Bill was always proud of his two sons; one who owned a successful business and the other who took up a career in law enforcement.
Bill’s family continued with the birth of his grandchildren Morgan R. Stavermann and Dylan S. Stavermann. Bill treasured the moments he spent with “Mr. D” and “Momo” throughout their lives attending sporting events and anything else that they set their hearts to.
Bill was loved by many family members including his nephew Mike Fultz and nieces Debi Curtsinger and Kim Lauman.
Everyone who knew Bill knew how much he loved racing. Bill frequently visited Lawrenceburg Speedway to watch the “D1” take the checkered flag. His family knew not to call him on Sundays when Nascar aired.
Bill will always be remembered for his stubborn yet loving personality and the way that he never failed to call at dinnertime to report the incoming weather. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “stay safe” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better dad, papaw, Uncle Bill, or friend, and will miss him dearly every day. Bill’s memory will live on in all the hearts of those that loved him. As a remembrance of Bill take a visit to the Waffle house and “order up”.
Bill will be welcomed into heaven by those friends and family members who preceded him in death.
